Dr. Yvonne Kason – What I Learned From My Four Near-Death Experiences

by David Sunfellow

Having had four NDEs over the course of my life impacted me profoundly. As a medical doctor, it prompted me to shift my medical specialty into pioneering STE research and counseling. My personal struggle for understanding convinced me of the need to spread awareness of STEs, and to affirm that they are not hallucinations! My NDEs also impacted me profoundly personally, as a spiritual seeker. My multiple experiences on “the other side” taught me many spiritual truths. The most powerful lessons I learned were these…

Near-Death Experiences & Suicide

I Often Dealt With Suicidal Thoughts “It took my spirit longer to recover than my body, though that in itself was a long time. I was very depressed, for many years, and often dealt with suicidal thoughts because the desire to be ‘home’ was so great. I was confused for the longest time. I was […]

Why It’s Important To Know About Shadow Issues And Work On Them

by David Sunfellow

Quotes “Here is a universal truth that everyone needs to know: Spiritual experiences, including near-death experiences, DO NOT perfect the human side of our nature. Spiritual experiences can, however, blind us and make us (and others) think we are more developed than we actually are. If we focus too much on the spiritual realities of […]

The Ghosts of Japan’s 2011 Tsunami

by David Sunfellow

Excerpt: “Reverend Kaneda exorcised 25 spirits from Rumiko Takahashi. They came and went at the rate of several a week. All of them, after the wartime sailor, were ghosts of the tsunami. For Kaneda, the days followed a relentless routine. The telephone call from Rumiko would come in the early evening; at nine o’clock her fiancé would pull up in front of the temple and carry her out of the car. As many as three spirits would appear in a single session. Kaneda talked to each personality in turn, sometimes over several hours: he established their circumstances, calmed their fears and politely but firmly enjoined them to follow him towards the light. Kaneda’s wife would sit with Rumiko; sometimes other priests were present to join in with the prayers. In the early hours of the morning, Rumiko would be driven home. ‘Each time she would feel better, and go back to Sendai, and go to work,’ Kaneda told me. ‘But then after a few days, she’d be overwhelmed again.’ Out among the living, surrounded by the city, she would become conscious of the dead, a thousand importunate spirits pressing in on her and trying to get inside…”

Carl Jung’s Near-Death Experience

by David Sunfellow

In a hospital in Switzerland in 1944, the world-renowned psychiatrist Carl G. Jung, had a heart attack and then a near-death experience. His vivid encounter with the light, plus the intensely meaningful insights led Jung to conclude that his experience came from something real and eternal. Jung’s experience is unique in that he saw the Earth from a vantage point of about a thousand miles above it. His incredibly accurate view of the Earth from outer space was described about two decades before astronauts in space first described it. Subsequently, as he reflected on life after death, Jung recalled the meditating Hindu from his near-death experience and read it as a parable of the archetypal Higher Self, the God-image within. Carl Jung, who founded analytical psychology, centered on the archetypes of the collective unconscious. The following is an excerpt from his autobiography entitled Memories, Dreams, Reflections describing his near-death experience.

Spiritual Emergence Anonymous: A 12-Step Program for the Integration of Spiritual Emergence

by David Sunfellow

A grassroots 12-Step program has recently been launched to assist in the integration of spiritual emergence (SE) and spiritually transformative experiences (STEs), based upon the principals and ethics of the original Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) 12-Step program. The purpose of Spiritual Emergence Anonymous (SEA) is to help support the integration of SE and STEs in individuals whose spiritual transformation is so powerful that they desire assistance and support within a group environment. SEA offers the potential to serve ‘STErs’ worldwide through online meetings until local chapters can flourish. We are ever-forming and transforming, welcoming the dynamic growth of this organization as more people join and help shape the endeavor.
